Latin Chat Rooms

Latin chat rooms are quite popular in the United States with our growing population of young Hispanic teens and young adults. Most of the chat rooms that rank highly on Google are singles chat rooms and dating services with chat rooms. One that has varied chat areas has teen chat rooms, senior chats, Spanish chats, avatar chats, and so on. Some Latin chat rooms have an English as well as Spanish speaking area. Most seem to cater to the younger, hip hop crowd.

A popular Latin Chat room, Barrio305, appears to be similiar to MTV but caters to interests of the Latino youth in the United States. Barrio305 claims to be the destination of choice for the fastest growing segment of the U.S. population by offering original programming via broadband video as well as a platform for user generated content through its own social network. Popular areas of interest that the website focuses on are the Latino music scene, car shows, street fashion, urban art and Latina, and Asian swimsuit models. There is a feature that lets you switch to Espan'ol from English that changes the whole look of the website. Their social network allows users to customize their profile with a suite of tools such as slide show generators, video uploads, photo sharing, Flash Video Chat and more.

In the Latin chat rooms that I visited Spanish appeared to be the preferred language, mixed with English, a type of ‘Spanglish” as it is called. The people in the chat areas seemed to be in their teens to twenties judging by the jargon they use. I am sure there are some Latin chat rooms out there about serious subjects but most were teen chat rooms and dating sites such as: www.amigos.com – Love and Romance for Latinos Worldwide.

The Latin chat room Latin Mojo looks interesting and appears to be just a general Latin chat room. The spill for their chat is- “meet new friends, engage them in conversation, and talk their fricking ears off! However, if you harass or annoy others, don't be surprised if you get the axe. :-)”. That is the way a chat room should be run!

As in any other adult chat room or singles chats, caution should be used before giving out your personal information. Kids and teens should be warned about this and to beware even when chatting with young people who speak their language. Predators come in all races, ages, and sexes and you have to be aware of the fact that you only know as much about the person you are chatting with as they are willing to truthfully tell you.

The internet and Latin chat rooms have made it easier for the Latino community to stay connected wherever they live. If they wish it is possible for them to chat with family and friends all over the world for free providing they have an internet connection.
